Dip Your Toes

Updated: Oct 22, 2018

If you have ever wanted to dip your toes in the Colorado River in the Grand Canyon but want to hike? Then Diamond Creek Trail is the place to go. Its more of a road then a trail but depending on recent rains it can be rough. The road starts at Peach Springs, Arizona and travels north into the west end of Grand Canyon. You must stop at the Resort in Peach Springs and pay the Hualapai Indian Reservation to access the road. The views are stunning as you drive down the road in a canyon that becomes narrower by the mile. Towards the end of the trail you will encounter some water as you cross the creek bed several times. The end of the trail opens up into a beachhead along the Colorado River. There is a picnic area before the end with shaded Ramada's. Over night camping is aloud for a fee. Plan on 2- 3 hours round trip. This will depend on how many picture stops you take and how long you hang out at river.

****Update- I visited the canyon this weekend. You now get your permit at the Hualapai Game & Fish or from Ranger at bottom. Their office is just west of lodge.
