This weekend I took a drive with a friend. We drove to the west end of the Grand Canyon, which was my second trip and his first. From there we drove over to Flagstaff in hopes of getting a spot at East Pocket. East Pocket is about a hour south west of Flagstaff and is known for its epic views of the red rocks of Sedona. After about 20 miles of rutted and wash boarded forest roads we reached the camping areas on the edge. Unfortunately, these great spots were already taken. I had taken the time before heading out to plan a back up on Gaia maps. I am glad I did as after another short drive to the west, we were rewarded with epic views and a great campsite nestled in the trees. Pulling around the corner and seeing the sights below was jaw dropping and made the countless miles driven that day all worth it. Having lunch next to Colorado River and dinner next to scenery that looked like a painting made for a great short trip. Next trip there way require a longer stay.
